Our services combine forensic expertise with modern imaging techniques and interdisciplinary collaboration. They include both examinations and assessments carried out on behalf of the judiciary and public authorities, as well as accessible services offering examinations and documentation for victims of violence.

Forensic consultancy

Do you have any questions about exceptional death reports or other forensic issues? We provide medical professionals with prompt and expert support in assessing the situation and determining the next steps.

📞 Our medical officer is available during office hours (08:00–12:00, 13:30–17:00) on 044 635 56 11.
Outside these hours, please contact the police operations centre.

In addition, at the ADFN (see below), we offer advice to medical professionals and to victims of violence on further courses of action and forensic examination services – even without a formal complaint being filed.

📞 The ADFN can be contacted 24/7 on 0800 09 09 09.

Other services (not commissioned by the Public Prosecutor's Office):

The Outreach Service of Forensic Nurses (ADFN) provides low-threshold support in hospitals and outpatient facilities for victims of domestic and sexual violence (including minors) who do not yet wish to report the offence to the police.

Within the ADFN, specialists act under the delegation of a specialist in forensic medicine:

Forensic examination and evidence collection: Standardised assessment and photographic/schematic/descriptive documentation of injuries, collection of evidence (DNA swabs, toxicological and other samples) without interpretative evaluation.
Telephone counselling and triage: Information on rights, reporting offences and support options, active referral to victim support counselling centres and other services for victims of violence as well as for medical staff.
Awareness-raising: Training courses and information sessions in hospitals and other institutions.
📞 The ADFN can be contacted 24/7 for telephone advice and to request or arrange examinations on                    0800 09 09 09.
