Curriculum
The CAS Forensic Imaging and Virtopsy provides theoretical knowledge and practical skills in forensic imaging, with a particular focus on the interpretation and reporting of post-mortem CT. It also provides an overview of post-mortem MRI, 3D surface documenta tion, clinical forensic imaging, as well as emerging techniques and concepts. The program is structured into three modules, all of which are required to obtain the certificate:
Module 1: Virtopsy Basic Course
Module 2: Virtopsy Advanced Course
Module 3: Virtopsy Practical Course
Aim
The main aim is to equip participants with in-depth theoretical and practical knowledge of the interpretation and reporting of post-mortem CT, complemented by an understanding of the indications, applicati ons, and assessment of other imaging methods in post-mortem radiology and forensic imaging. Intended audience The program is aimed at physicians and other professionals interested in forensic imaging. No prior experience in forensic imaging is required. The program is suitable for both newcomers to the field and participants with previous experience who wish to further develop their knowledge and skills
Admission requirements
Applicants should hold a degree in medicine. Non-physicians may also be admitted if they hold a bachelor’s degree or an equivalent qualification. Methods The program combines academic teaching and research with clinical practice, while also promoting methodological skills.
Language & accreditation
The entire program is conducted in English. The program is regularly accredited by ISFRI (International Society of Forensic Radiology and Imaging) and the Swiss Society of Forensic Medicine.

Certificate of Advanced Studies UZH in Forensic Imaging and Virtopsy (10 ECTS Credits)
Assessment
- Written assessments of compulsory Modules 1, 2 and 3
- On-site Case Reporting (documentation of one real case in our institute under our supervision)
- Case Book (documentation of 50 post mortem cases)

The program is restricted to max. 20 participants for all parts/modules

Costs
CHF 10'500.– for all compulsory modules (1–3), including:
Virtopsy Basic (CHF 1'300.–)
Advanced Course (CHF 1'900.–)
Practical Course (CHF 7'300.–)
materials and examination fees. Not included are traveling costs, food and housing. Visit of individual modules is possible, incrementally for the compulsory modules.
